A crown (or cap) is a covering that encases the entire tooth surface restoring it to its original shape and size. A crown protects and strengthens tooth structure that cannot be restored with fillings or other types of restorations.

They are highly durable and will last many years, but like most dental restorations, they may eventually need to be replaced. What does getting a crown involve?
Beautiful, esthetic all porcelain crowns are usually done by Dr. Bey in the office in one visit with CEREC CAD/CAM technolgy. After gently numbing the tooth and surrounding area, he will remove any decay, old fillings or fractures from the tooth. He will then scan in to a specialized computer images of the prepared tooth and the opposing teeth. He then designs a custom all porclain crown that is "milled" to fit the tooth. While the patient is still numb, he will comfortably bond, or cement, it onto the tooth. The entire prodecure usually is performed under two hours in one appointment.
